POLITICALLY INCORRECT, CENTER-RIGHT PERSPECTIVE ON CURRENT NEWS EVENTS

UPDATE ON KNEE REHAB PROGRESS

Monday was the seven-week marker since knee surgery. To give you an idea of how this has its ups and downs; on the day of surgery I checked in about 8:00 am and went to surgery about 10:00 am. Surgery lasted about an hour. I exited recovery about 1:00 pm and walked out of the hospital with walker. My leg was wrapped in a full-length leg brace so I couldn’t bend it. Managed to get myself into the family chariot and my dearly beloved drove me home. I had no idea what was going to follow. Well, here I am 7 weeks later, I can walk (with the aid of a cane) and I can drive again. Make no mistake, this surgery is not for sissies. I lucked out, got a great physical therapist which is the key to total recovery. I’m on the road to a normal life, it improves slowly, but it improves every day.

VERY IMPORTANT LEGISLATION IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW WITH A HIDDEN SURPRISE.

I have been an avid car enthusiast since I was knee high to a wiener dog. I have owned just about every kind of car ever made in my life. Sometime around 1960 California and a few other states started passing laws to clean up the exhaust on autos. The early emissions laws were sorely needed. I lived in So. Cal form 1963 to 1990, so I experienced the horrific smog that inundated the L.A. Basin. It was brutal, by midafternoon your eyes were burning and watering, it was miserable.

To their credit, the state of California cleaned up the air pretty darn well in the next 20 odd years. The early emission devices on cars robbed them of their power and they were miserable to drive. But the automakers got better, made the cars cleaner, and brought back the horsepower from the old days. During these times the California Air Resources Board was formed (CARB). CARB was the driving force behind all of the gas mileage and emission standards all across the USA. As usual, when bureaucrats are charge, they justify their existence by constantly writing more and more regulations that get crazier and crazier. They have burdened the auto manufacturers with so many regulations that we can barely afford to buy their products.

This mindset that internal combustion engines were evil and had to be eliminated came from this never-ending attack by CARB. So, the state that can’t produce enough electricity to keep your air conditioner running thought the answer was electric cars. The power grid in this country, especially California is years away from being able to support a huge number of electric vehicles, when coupled with all of the other power needs of homes and industries.

The next bright idea these geniuses had was to eliminate diesel trucks and busses by 2035. As a matter of fact, California along with five or six other states have outlawed the sale of heavy diesel trucks, busses and motorhomes as of January 1st, 2025. Right now!! The motorhome industry was caught completely off guard thinking they would be exempt. Nope, these morons shut them down as well.

But, since we have a new sheriff in town, and a whole bunch of deputies that support him, all of this stuff is close to going away. The House just passed bill that will end this craziness once and for all. I am embedding a couple of videos by a guy that keeps up on all of these details. See below.

This never-ending river of regulations has always been about one thing, killing Americas dependance on the internal combustion engine, and killing the oil and gas industry that the left hates with passion. The left has this fairytale dream of America running on wind and solar and unicorn piss. It was never going to be achievable in the foreseeable future. Maybe not at all. If you take all of the different forms of energy and use them all in a sane and balanced format, that is the real answer. Anything else is wishful thinking at best.

I believe we truly are in the “Golden Age of America” thanks to Donald Trump and his faithful followers. This is just another example of a commonsense approach to solving problems without destroying all of the infrastructure we have spent decades developing.
