POLITICALLY INCORRECT, CENTER-RIGHT PERSPECTIVE ON CURRENT NEWS EVENTS
DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY HAVE A PLAN?
My education as a youngster went well beyond public schools. I was fortunate to have family, and family friends, that were from very diverse trades and professional backgrounds. I was always highly interested in their conversations as they spoke among themselves. That is a great way to learn a host of different things. Without a doubt, the most important thing I learned as a child from just paying attention, was that every endeavor, no matter how small should have a plan. You have to think about what it is you are attempting to achieve, and formulate a plan in your mind, or on larger projects, a written plan. Almost every project has issues that you will have to deal with along the way, and you must be prepared for those.
My father was bringing home blueprints from work, and teaching me how to read them, when I was ten years old. Probably a little strange for a ten-year-old to actually be interested in doing that. But I was excited to learn how to do that. It helped me immensely a few years later as a drafting student in vocational drafting. My sister married a navy pilot and aircraft engineer, he taught me some really cool stuff, even took a few flying lessons. (Didn’t care for flying).
By the time I was 16 years old, I probably had a better understanding of how things worked than a lot of adults. That knowledge has only broadened having spent my life in the building industry. So, I feel I am amply qualified to make the following remarks.
BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
The answer to the question I posed above “does anyone have a plan?” is no, they don’t have a plan. This is how I know; car dealerships are in a panic, and demanding that manufacturers stop sending them electric vehicles, because they cant’ sell them. Electric vehicle owners are unable to use them in freezing cold, or extremely hot weather. The chargers don’t work when covered in ice. The cars don’t work when covered in ice. You could easily be stranded and frozen to death in one of these pieces of crap.
Wind farms stop working when covered with ice, which just happens to be a super critical time for power generation. Solar panels don’t work when covered in snow and ice. Coal and Natural gas power generating stations aren’t affected by weather. (someone thought that one through). Not everyone lives in Arizona or southern California.
This is what I think is hilarious. Some old guy who is suffering from dementia, but just happens to be the sitting president, stands up at the podium and declares that there will be no more gas-powered cars sold by 2035. The year that will likely be somewhere around ten years after his death and three administrations later. So, Ford, GM, and Chrysler lead by executives that are supposed to be really smart based on their annual salaries, get right on board, and start making electric vehicles. You would think, a leader of a huge corporation would have said; “hold on a minute, we ain’t ready for that yet”. Oh, hell no, they have all lost billions of dollars and can’t sell the dang things, ’cause Joe the plumber is way smarter, and he ain’t buying their crap ’cause it don’t work. It takes five times longer to take a cross country trip in a new Tesla, than in his 2004 Lexus.
There is a true story that perfectly illustrates what is happening regarding the green energy crowd. When Mao Tse-tung took over the leadership in China in the fifties, he was faced with a country-wide famine. He reasoned that the sparrows were eating the seeds and ruining the crops so he ordered the elimination of the sparrows. It was quite successful, but in the end, it caused a greater famine and millions of Chinese died of starvation because the sparrows were actually eating the insects, thus protecting the crops. without the sparrows, the insects ravaged the fields.
The green energy advocates have become religious zealots. Religious zealots are not critical thinkers and planners, they are reactionaries. They will blindly rush into something to satisfy their beliefs without considering the consequences. They have tunnel vision.
Revision of the power grid is a very big deal. People’s lives depend on electrical power in hundreds of ways. This is serious stuff; it isn’t something you can play around with. Our national security depends on a functioning power grid. Revising the power grid requires a well thought out plan, and that revision will probably take at least 30 plus years. When people start knocking down coal and gas fired power stations, they better damn well know what they are doing. They are playing with the lives and security of millions of people. They could stupidly be killing the sparrows.
Making the infrastructure work is a delicate balancing act. Take too much away on one side and the whole thing collapses. This is the business of intelligent well-grounded people, who are not influenced by the latest political nonsense. These people think generations ahead, and carefully weigh the consequences of their actions.
I just read an article by a UK scientist, and his position is that the whole wind and solar idea, is an impossible dream. He laid it out very well, and it made perfect sense. He says the only viable and dependable clean energy source is nuclear, and ignoring it is disastrous. I will find the article again and publish it in the future.
CLOSING STATEMENT
A few weeks ago, the Pacific Northwest was covered with snow and ice. Mostly ice. Naturally we had power outages with thousands of trees just waiting to take out power lines. we have a gas fireplace in the living room, and a gas water heater. When the power went out, they told us it would be back on in a few hours. We turned on the fireplace, grabbed the emergency battery powered lights, and sat it out. If it was going to be out for a longer period, we are prepared with a gasoline powered generator. The bottom line is that it is imperative for your safety to have well balanced energy sources. When I hook up my gasoline generator, my main gas-powered furnace is up and working along with the lights and refrigerators. An all-electric home would have to have a standby generator powered by a fossil fuel, or a very large battery, likely about the size of your car. Can you see how ridiculous this all-electric thing is yet?

Well said! Car dealerships must have a lot of libs at the helm trying to look good in the eyes of the environmentalist nuts, but they have no foresight into the distant future. They shot themselves in the foot. My son does mobile marketing designs and displays for Toyota, and they are still pumping out EV cars. They now have a Landcruiser EV.

Thank you for the comment. To Toyota’s credit, the company has been a pioneer in hydrogen powered cars and trucks, and have quite a large fleet of them in L.A. The president of Toyota said a few years ago that hydrogen is the future not electric, and they are spending a lot of research money in that direction. The whole EV push has been a giant fiasco, there isn’t sufficient infrastructure to support them, plus it’s very early in their development. Have a super weekend.

I’m aware of the hydrogen cars but unfortunately they won’t have the costly infrastructure that is required to support them either. Someday maybe.
